What is PriceGuessr?
PriceGuessr is a GeoGuessr-inspired price guessing game. Instead of figuring out where you are on a map, you guess how much everyday items cost in different countries. Each round features a photo of a real product along with the city and country where the price was observed.
How does scoring work?
Scoring is continuous, deterministic, and fair based on percentage deviation:
- Continuous points: No pass/fail. The closer your guess, the higher your score.
- Relative error: Missing a \$3 coffee by \$1 is a larger error than missing a \$1000 rent by \$1.
- Symmetric rewards: Overestimating by 20% scores the same base points as underestimating by 20%.
- Bullseye bonus: Highly accurate guesses (within 5%) trigger steep point bonuses.
Game Modes
1. Daily Challenge
5 identical items worldwide per day. One attempt per player with shareable accuracy grids.
2. Endless Solo
Infinite rounds with no time limit. Train your global price intuition and build streak totals.
3. Multiplayer Lobbies
Live game rooms for up to 10 players. Play simultaneously with custom round settings.
Open Data & Attribution
All price data is sourced from Open Prices (Open Food Facts) under the ODbL license. Guesses in your own currency are dynamically converted using official European Central Bank (ECB) exchange rates. Review exact image authors on our Data Sources page.
